Tommy Dale Seale

Tommy Dale Seale was born April 22nd, 1949 in Monahans, Texas to Chester and Mertice (Hammit) Seale, Tommy was reared and educated in both Monahans and Odessa, Texas. Following high school graduation, he earned his bachelors degree at Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Responding to a call to the ministry, Tommy went on to obtain Master of Divinity and Master of Biblical Literature degrees at Oral Roberts University.
While at ORU, Tommy met and later married Carol Holford in August of 1991. With Tommy’s first appointment to Foyil United Methodist Church, the couple made their home in that community prior to a move to Claremore. Tommy’s current appointment is with Meadowcreek United Methodist Church in Collinsville where he has shepherded his congregation for the last three years. Faithful and obedient to his divine calling, Tommy’s reliance on the Lord and commitment to His work never wavered.
Dedicated to his lifework, Tommy nevertheless found time for his hobbies which included first and foremost, hunting and fishing. Annual vacations were planned around pheasant season when Tommy and his bird dogs escaped to the country. An accomplished woodworker, he also remodeled his home, crafting all of its cabinetry and moldings.
Compassionate and selfless, Tommy left an indelible imprint on his church, community and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of their home in Claremore; his sons, Robert Holford and his wife, Meg, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Chris Holford and his wife, Kristin, of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren Jace, Jesse, Zoe Celeste, Sean, Jeremy and Katie; and his sister, Margaret. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Personal Note: Tommy and I were close friends since High School. He we to Monahans and I went to Pecos. We enrolled at Sul Ross at the same time. We were so happy to see each other at the Reunion .It is with a sad, sad heart to say he will be loved and will be missed., Toyah.

 

 
Frank Woodard, Jr.

 

John Frank Woodward Jr., a longtime Brewster County rancher, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso. He was 79 years old.
 
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Elm Grove Cemetery. Alpine Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
 
He was born in Alpine on Oct. 28, 1928, to John Frank Woodward Sr. and Mary Frances Livingston Woodward of Marfa; both families were early Brewster and Presidio County settlers.
 
Frank graduated from Alpine High School in 1946, and went on to be in the first graduating class of geologists from Sul Ross State University. He taught earth science at Presidio High School and was a geologist for Gulf Oil for many years. Frank assisted with the mapping of over 5,000 square miles of land in and around Brewster County and helped promote his family business of rock hunting. Frank joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952. As a captain, he briefly served on a special intelligence subcommittee for President Kennedy while at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, before returning to the family ranch in 1963.
 
Christian Church of Alpine. He was a member of the Frontier Masonic Lodge # 766, Keystone Royal Arch Chapter and Council, Commandery, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter, all in Alpine. Frank was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason in El Paso. He was also a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas.
 
Survivors include his partner of 23 years, Bobbette Singleton; one daughter, Susan Spriggs of Alpine; two sons, John F. “Trey” Woodward III of Alpine and David R. Woodward of Fredericksburg; one brother, Tommy R. Woodward of Midland, four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four nieces, two nephews and many cousins.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Woodward; his daughter, Emily Woodward Brunson; his son, Mark Woodward; and his grandson, Jay Woodward.
 
Frank was known for his kind-hearted gestures of welcoming everyone to his ranch in true Texas fashion, and well respected for his knowledge of Big Bend geology. He was loved and will be missed by his entire family and many friends.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Big Bend.
 
James David Cooper
Cleburne, TX - James David Cooper , 61 passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008m after a brief illness.

 MEMORIAL SERVICE: 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cleburne Convention Center.

David was born April 7, 1947, in Odessa to James and Grace Washburn Cooper. David graduated from Odessa High School and played football for the Broncos. He attended Sul Ross State University, where he also played football. David was retired from the city of Cleburne and was safety coordinator. He was a devoted husband, father , brother and  "Grumbles." David was a great friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

SURVIVORS: Wife of 41 years, Deborah Cooper; son, Chad Michael; daughter, Amanda Giffith; brother, Kenneth Cooper and wife, Roberta; grandchildren; Jaysey Grffith Dias and Kassadie Herman; and great-grandchildren, Jaxen Walker Dias and Jena Jaymes Dias.
